It’s time you say goodbye to your chapped lips with the 5 simple protection tips. Read on the tips to get the soft and pink lips naturally.
1. Protect Your Lips
Lips have very thin outer layer and it contains melanin, necessary for the protection from the sun rays. Protect the lips by applying a lip balm with SPF UVA/UVB. You can also use Vaseline when they are chapped. Apply it before you hit the bed, and let it stay overnight for effective cure. For effective results, apply a balm with shea or cocoa butter.
2. Stay Hydrated
Chapped/ Dry lips indicate that you may be dehydrated. Drink lot of water daily and Green Tea, and it helps in nourishing your skin and promoting new cell growth.
3. Refrain from licking your lips
As lips begin to dry out, you may tend to lick them for temporary relief. Do not do it, as it only worsens the situation. Wetting your lips by licking them with saliva actually causes further drying. Resist the temptation to lick the lips, and instead reapply your lip balm. Also, don’t bite your lips when nervous or without realizing it. Biting your lips can crack them and create open sores that may need to be treated with antibiotics further.
4. Exfoliate and Condition Lips
Using a soft tooth brush spread an exfoliant on your lips and exfoliate them. You can make a lip exfoliation scrub with a mix of honey, sugar, and olive oil. Rub the mixture on your lips with toothbrush and exfoliate for few minutes. Condition them by applying butter, milk cream, neem oil. You can also rub them with cucumber slices or apply cucumber juice, as the phytochemicals found in cucumbers tighten the collagen in your lips and make them hydrated, soft and plump.
5. Eat Healthy
A healthy diet is not just important for your health, but it is equally vital for a healthy skin and soft lips. Include fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, whole grains and olive oil in your diet and take the Omega 3 supplements. Get the needed vitamins including vitamins B, C and E, which helps to nurture your lips from the inside out. Remember you are what you eat.
