Lower Back Pain has become the most common problem for many, especially for those who work over a computer desk sitting for longer hours. Your doctor may prescribe some pain medication and advise you to rest, but once you get back to work you may be facing the same problem again. The good news is there are simple home remedies that work effectively, and you won’t have to endure similar discomfort again and again.
1. Keep Moving
Like the rest of our body, our spines are also required to move. Keep moving and do your daily chores. If you’re not doing regular aerobic exercises like swimming, bicycling or any other, then indulge in daily activities. Walk the dog, take brisk walks, make the beds, and take the stairs. Do not sit for longer time and ensure you stretch all your body daily. Inhale slowly from your belly, as it supports your upper body and strengthens core muscles.
2. Ice it then Heat it
Ice works great as pain reliever. It can temporarily block the pain the signals and lowers the swelling. Wrap an ice pack in a towel and massage the painful area for 20 minutes. Apply the ice packs as necessary. Post 48 hours, get to the heat treatment. The heat therapy stimulates blood flow and reduces painful spasms. Dip a towel in hot water, wring out the water and place the towel across the painful area. Leave it on for up to 15 minutes. Repeat it for several days.
3. Herbal Oil
A Massage with warm herbal oil in the lower back area can makes your muscles relax and provide relief. Opt for any oils- eucalyptus oil, almond oil, olive oil or coconut oil for the gentle massage in the area.
4. Basil Leaves
Besides the multiple benefits for your skin and hair care, Basil Leaves also helps you get rid of backache and body pains. Add few basil leaves to water, and boil it until it evaporates to half. Let it cool down and add a pinch of salt. Drink this concoction once daily to get rid of the pain.
Garlic with its anti-inflammatory properties helps in treating the aches. All you have to do is simply eat two garlic cloves on an empty stomach in the morning. Alternatively, massage with garlic oil can help you.
How to make Garlic Oil? Heat coconut oil, mustard oil or sesame oil on low flame. Add Garlic cloves now and fry until they turn brown. Now strain the oil and let it cool to room temperature. Massage with this garlic oil before you take warm shower.
6. Willow Bark
White willow tree bark is packed with pain relieving properties. It contains salicin, which is used to make salicylic acid, an ingredient in aspirin to relieve of pain. This salicylic acid has anti-inflammatory properties to produce an analgesic effect that can help minimize pain.
7. Camphor and Coconut Oil
Camphor and Coconut Oil combined does wonders for lower back pain. Mix the camphor to coconut oil. Warm the mixed oil and store it in a bottle. Twice a week, massage with this warm oil on the ached area before going to sleep.
8. Perfect Your Posture
Look for postures that leave less stress on your back. Try to place your chair close to your work table and maintain a good posture, by sitting straight and try to avoid leaning. Place monitor right in front, slightly below eye level, and keep the keyboard and mouse close to you. Try aligning your head above the shoulders while you work. It’s advisable not to sit often with crossed legs, as it can lower your blood circulation.
