5 Herbs every woman should know about!

Ashwagandha or Indian ginseng or winter cherry has a history of traditional use in Ayurvedic medicine, and its health benefits mostly favour women. Ashwagandha is known for its anti-inflammatory, anti-stress and anti-anxiety benefits, and they indeed aid in calming nervous system and promoting restful sleep. Ashwagandha also has hormone-balancing functions, increase fertility and improve overall mood.

However, herbalists note that Dong Quai is best taken before or after menstruation, but not during menstruation period or during pregnancy.

5. Chaste Tree Berry (Vitex agnus-castus)

Chaste Tree Berry or Vitex agnus-castus is known as premiere herb for relieving PMS symptoms. It is a good hormone balancer and helps support good communicator between the brain and the ovaries, so that the ovaries produce estrogen and progesterone levels. Although the taste of Chaste Tree Berry is strong, it is best taken in tincture form. It is an effective herb for women with short menstrual cycles, trouble conceiving, cramping and PMS. Take 250–500 mg dried fruit capsule once per day or 2–3 ml of Tincture each morning.
