Optometry’s Meeting returns to its leadership-focused program for 2022 with influential advocacy and networking opportunities combined with the advanced education that continues to advance our profession. Here’s what you can expect from our Chicago meeting:
1. Modern CE and professional development.
AOA’s educational choices truly set the Optometry’s Meeting apart from other industry or professional conferences with over 200 hours of credits for physicians, students and paraoptometry – in topics ranging from modern surgical and laser procedures to systemic diseases, functional vision, billing and coding and more . Consider the Saturday Surgical Program with back-to-back courses designed to strengthen in-office surgical interventions by physicians and staff; one of more than 7 hands-on learning workshops on topics ranging from pediatrics to laser procedures; or book experiential CE opportunities in iconic Chicago destinations such as: B. an architectural tour along the Chicago River or an improvisation workshop at the Second City Comedy Club. Or take foundational courses that fit into other areas of education offered beyond Optometry’s Meeting.

The Western Hemisphere’s largest science museum boasts the only remaining building from the 1893 World’s Fair. Then join the AOA+ program with events, sessions and courses designed to build the careers of future physicians. Connect with practicing optometry physicians at the AOA+ Leadership Link; Find out about opportunities to expand your education and eventual practice at the AOA+ Residency and State Affiliate Summit; Join AOA+ pop-up sessions on exciting topics ranging from advocacy and practice management to overcoming student debt and more; and build your leadership skills and professional networking through the AOA+ Leadership Society. 5. Development of paraoptometric skills and training opportunities.
Providing relevant, impactful educational and collaborative opportunities for all levels of paraoptometry, the Optometry’s Meeting not only equips staff for a successful career, but also helps the practice meet the primary eye health needs of the community. Paraoptometry can choose from over 50 CE and professional development courses, offering 35 hours of paraoptometric-specific learning and 31 hours in an integrated, physician-paraoptometric framework. Additionally, employees can benefit from live, in-person CPO and CPOA review courses, as well as foundational training courses that can help hone skills. Paraoptometrics may also participate in special networking events such as the Paraoptometric Awards Luncheon Celebration sponsored by Alcon and the Paraoptometric Idea Exchange.
